Arrowmont Internships
The Internship Program at Arrowmont is a great opportunity for those who are interested in learning about nonprofit administration or seeking practical experience in an arts organization. Interns live and work on campus for 2-3 months, becoming a pivotal part of the Arrowmont Community during our busy workshop sessions. Learn more about internships.

Q&A
Are you currently in school? If so, where and what’s your major?
I graduated with a BA in Communication from the University of Tennessee in 2023. Although my background is in communication, this internship is helping me make the shift towards arts administration.
What drew you to apply to the Visions Internship?
Although I studied communication always had a passion for art and culture. I was drawn to the Visions Internship because of its focus on making art accessible to Appalachian youth. It’s so important that they know their history and appreciate their culture.

What do you hope to achieve during your internship?
During my internship, I’m hoping to learn more about Appalachian culture, specifically Appalachian craft culture and how it has shaped this region. It’s also my hope that I can make a positive impact on the lives of the students that we host. I want students to leave ArtReach believing that they can be a working artist and understand the culture more.
What are you most excited for?
I am most excited for meeting the students! Any opportunity to work with them, help facilitate or just talk with them I’m excited for.
What are your future aspirations?
I’m really passionate about community and embracing the power that art has to bring people together. I would love to continue to build creative collectives around the country that focus on uplifting and empower creatives, especially those in the Black community. I am also a filmmaker and theatre practitioner, so it’s my hope in the future to go on to make feature films and then eventually start my own production company.

What’s your favorite thing about campus so far?
My favorite part of campus so far has been the Sandra J. Blain art gallery. Seeing the rotating exhibitions has been such a joy. Being surrounded by art and artisans has inspired me so much in the short time that I’ve been here.
What’s next, where are you headed after the internship ends?
I am very much a “go with the flow” type of person. I’m not sure what city I’ll be living in after my internship ends but I am definitely looking forward to starting my career in arts administration.
