About the Events Internship
Event Interns play an important role in Arrowmont’s National Workshop sessions, providing successful applicants with the opportunity to get to know Arrowmont students and instructors, and work alongside programming staff over the internship. Events intern duties will include facilitating evening slide presentations, conducting midnight studio safety checks, coordinating and facilitating weekly karaoke/dance parties, leading a weekly outdoor walking tour of campus, encouraging student and instructor fellowship through impromptu gatherings, and attending other evening events on campus.
The events intern may also be asked to help the studio department with material prep or other basic tasks during downtime. Events interns will work late afternoons and evenings – most nights until 1am. The ideal candidate for this position is someone outgoing and social, as well as professional and responsible, someone who doesn’t mind working late evenings, and is comfortable or wants to improve their public speaking skills.

Appalachian Visions Internship
Arrowmont is taking an active role in shaping the future of a more diverse and equitable arts and craft administrative field in central Appalachia. This grant-funded internship opportunity provides arts administration experience to those who want a career within their own Appalachian communities. Arrowmont welcomes Appalachian applicants from qualifying counties with preference given to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), LGBTQ+ and all other marginalized voices currently residing in central Appalachia. (See qualifying counties at the bottom of this page.)
For Fall 2026, we’re looking for a 10-month long commitment from our next Vision Intern. Their internship arrival and departure dates are somewhat flexible, but must be completed between the months of August 2026 and May 2027. We believe that by lengthening this program, the successful candidate will not only have a chance to learn about arts administration and youth education, but be provided the opportunity to invest themselves more fully into the community and culture of the broader Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Providing them with the tools and experience they need to succeed in their next chapter, wherever that may lead them.
For questions about the application process or the program, please contact Rebecca Smedley, Director of Local and Regional Programs, at [email protected] or by calling 865-436-5860 ex 38.
