Teach a Workshop

This online proposal system is for the calendar year 2026 for workshops to be considered in 2027 and beyond. All proposals will be kept on file for consideration for later years, so there is no need to reapply with the same workshop proposal each year.

Since review is ongoing, applicants will not be contacted with declination.

Please describe at length the workshop you’d like to propose:
What would the ideal facility require, what kinds of equipment would you need access to? What is the proposed project(s) to accomplish in one week? What skills would the student learn, and what would the desired outcomes of the course be? Do you have any previous experience teaching similar workshops?

Also include a brief biographical statement that describes your teaching experience and a website to view your artwork.

Be sure to include both exhibition and teaching experience on your resume / CV, and a website address to your personal website.

Instructors are expected to teach 8-14 students, depending on the studio size and equipment availability. Once approved, all instructors are responsible for providing imagery, copy, and material lists to Arrowmont for use in promoting and planning for workshops.

Depending on the topic and medium, Instructors may be encouraged to provide specialist materials for students to use during workshops (paid for by students).

Contracted instructors are compensated for their time and participation in workshops. Arrowmont provides housing and meals for the duration of the workshop, as well as a travel allowance to support getting to and from campus.

Arrowmont considers individuals who have an established art practice and reputation within the arts community as mature, motivated and approachable. Successful proposals will demonstrate a mastery of subject, and preparedness to educate others around their chosen subject. Previous experience as an instructor is not required but encouraged.

Uniqueness of subject, schedule availability and portfolio of work play a significant role in consideration.
