Legacy Workshops for Educators and Administrators
Legacy Workshops were created to provide Central Appalachian educators, administrators and youth arts organizers with a FREE immersive, educational art retreat on Arrowmont’s Gatlinburg campus.
About the Program
Offered twice annually, Arrowmont Legacy workshops offer educators, administrators, and youth arts organizers the opportunity to learn traditional arts & crafts during an immersive 1-week or weekend, onsite experience. In addition to artistic application, educators will learn how traditional craft relates to teaching other subjects, enhancing the learning experience for their own students.
Participants may choose from workshops in a wide range of media, based on their interests and artistic experience. The sessions are designed so that students have time to interact, share ideas, and build a supportive network. Additional evening programming and demonstrations are scheduled during the workshops so that participants can learn about Appalachian arts and ways to infuse it into their classroom or organization.
The Legacy program is FREE to admitted teacher-students from qualifying counties. The full scholarship includes tuition, lodging, meals, and a completion stipend (intended to offset travel & additional material costs).
