Fused Glass: Layers & Light

Emily Yagielo・Fused Glass・Fall Legacy November 12-15, 2026

Workshop Description

This workshop covers the basic fundamentals of fused glass, making it perfect for the fused glass novice. Fused glass is a kiln-fired process that uses heat, time, and gravity to combine separate pieces of glass to create something new. Students will explore how layering and light affect a finished piece. This workshop will teach essential tools, provide practical glass knowledge, and allow students to experiment with heat as they navigate the differences between tack, contour, and full fire kiln schedules. This is a practical fused glass toolkit with lots of room for individual expression. All skill levels are welcome.

Artist Bio

Emily Yagielo is an Asheville, North Carolina resident and a primarily self-taught glass fuser working in the city’s River Arts District (RAD), an area of industrial buildings reimagined into studios and galleries for hundreds of artists. The ability of glass to move from a solid to a fluid state and back holds a particular fascination for her. She creates her work with an emphasis on control, precision, and price accessibility. Most recently, she has found inspiration in recreating quilt patterns in glass, a homage to the long line of talented Amish quilters in her family. In addition to creating her own pieces, Emily is an avid advocate for the fused glass process, teaching personalized, hands-on instructional classes and providing demonstrations and informational access to the general public.
