Copper Flower Making

Workshop Description

In this workshop, students will learn how to make realistic roses by cutting out layers of petals from copper sheet that will be textured with hammers and riveted to copper stems. Additionally, this workshop will cover fold forming techniques to create beautiful poppies, canna lilies, and leaves. Students will learn how to transfer a design to metal, use a jeweler’s saw, rolling mill, and forging hammer, as well as the essential skill of how to anneal metal. Basic soldering techniques will also be covered but are optional additions to the flower construction.

Artist Bio

Beth Lonsinger is a curious metalsmith and the Retail Gallery Manager at the Metal Museum in Memphis, Tennessee. She has been dedicated to her craft for more than 30 years and has studied all over the world to hone her skills. Beth is an active member of the craft community, holding memberships in the Florida Society of Goldsmiths, the Toe River Arts council, and the Southern Highland Craft Guild.
