3D Stained Glass: Contemporary Design Using Traditional Techniques

Angelique Fraley・Stained Glass・Summer Legacy July 12-17, 2026

Workshop Description

In this workshop, students will create dynamic 3D stained glass pieces using traditional methods with a modern twist. Students will learn to design and fabricate intricate glass sculptures, from concept to completion, as well as essential stained glass techniques including glass cutting, grinding, copper foil, and bronze rod assembly. Students will gain proficiency in soldering to join glass pieces securely, while experimenting with three-dimensional forms that stretch beyond the traditional flat window. The workshop will use a variety of colored, textured, and opaque glass. By the end of the workshop, students will have created two finished pieces: one sculptural and one functional (such as a light fixture or small window).
