Clay Collages & Image Transfers

Overview

In this workshop, students will learn how to utilize slump molds to slab-construct their own functional plate which they will decorate with their own screen-printed image transfers and a variety of 2- dimensional techniques to craft surface compositions layered with color, depth, and imagery. Students will leave this class having learned the art of image transfer development, as well as surface and ornamentation through the use of painting, printing, paper cutting, collage, and clay applique. All student work will later be finished with a layer of clear glaze.
 
 *Arrowmont staff will kiln fire all pieces. Students will be notified about pick up at a later date.

Course Fee : $375.00

Important Information

  • All materials are included in the tuition cost
  • NO studio time outside of workshop hours 9AM-5PM
  • Cost is per person, when registering as a couple you will need to register separately
  • If registering as a couple - Only one individual should register for "single room" housing, the other should opt into "off-campus" and select a meal plan.

Workshop Details

  • Check-in from 12PM - 6PM on Thursday, February 13th
  • Checkout after 3PM Sunday, February 16th and no later than 9AM Monday, February 17th
  • No orientation or meal service on Thursday, February 13th
  • Special dinner with wine & beer provided on Friday, February 14th

Material fees are not included in our national workshop costs, but are included with the cost of our winter short workshops. A material list with estimated costs will be emailed about 30 days before the national workshop begins.

Artist Bio
Breana Ferreira
Breana Ferreira (she/her) was born in Southern California, raised in Austin, TX, and received her BFA in Ceramics in Spring of 2022 from the University of North Texas. Her focus is on the integration of clay with a variety of 2-dimensional art practices to capture the tangled natural and industrial aspects of everyday life. The curated chaos embodied in her work exists as a personal record of the daily joys, anxieties, and mundanities of living. Prior to her position as one of Arrowmont’s current Resident Artists, Breana has worked as a traveling artist and educator with the American Museum
