Celebrate the Object: Utilitarian Clay VIII Presenters and Invited Artists

September 8 - November 26, 2025

The Utilitarian Clay Symposium’s Celebrate the Object: Presenters and Invited Artists exhibition features works by the 18 symposium presenters – nationally and internationally recognized artists whose work represents some of the most diverse utilitarian work being created today – and their invited artists. Each of the presenters was asked to invite a clay artist who is also making strong functional work. These artists may be early to mid-career or someone who may not have been represented in a space like Arrowmont before. This exhibition celebrates the object in form and function, strengthens dialogue in the field, and exemplifies Arrowmont’s mission of enriching lives through arts and crafts.

Held every four years since 1992, with a reprieve due to the pandemic, Arrowmont’s Utilitarian Clay Symposium enjoys a national reputation within the ceramics community. Celebrating the object in form and function, it is a unique celebration of utilitarian pottery that fosters community and strengthens the dialogue in the field.
