Who is SPIN?
SPIN, Silk Painters International, is a non-profit organization of silk artists, such as painters, educators and practitioners.
What is SPIN?
Our organization is built upon four pillars.
First: The quarterly publication of Silkworm Magazine. Silkworm features artisans, fashion, “how to” tips, and members’ art or those of a chapter.
Second: The website, www.silkpainters.org, is the site used by potential and active members to stay current within our organization.
Third: The biennial international Festival provides our organization with the opportunity to meet in an artistically rich environment. The week-long layered event provides attendees with seminars, workshops, an art exhibit, and a fashion show. Finally, the Festival provides opportunities for informational exchanges which facilitate professional development, and long lasting friendships. Our Festival brings together every level of silk artists who willingly share their passion for silk art.
Fourth: The membership itself is the key ingredient of our organization. This vibrant group represents a wide range of silk artists from novices to Master Silk Painters. We never seem to exhaust the infinite ways in which Silk Art can be expressed.
What are their goals?
- Facilitating silk painting in as many venues as possible.
- Encouraging and promoting the collection, display of silk art.
- Informing artists, professionals and the public as to past, current and future trends and directions for the art form.
- Supporting eclectic artistic expression.
Event Registration opens May 2, 2026! More information and event registration here!
