Live, work & play at Arrowmont

We believe arts & crafts education is something everyone should have the opportunity to experience. As part of our commitment to making Arrowmont accessible to all, we offer a unique workstudy program for students interested in participating in our National Workshops. All workstudy students take our National Workshops tuition-free, and have all meals and housing provided for the duration of the program.

New for 2026: Fees associated with instructor-required materials for workshops will be covered due to a generous grant, up to $250/workshop. Any balances above that limit or outside of the scope of Arrowmont-approved covered materials are to be paid weekly in the supply store. Failure to pay said materials fees will forfeit participation in future workshops.

Program Overview

The workstudy program is an immersive, six-week experience that allows participants to take workshops with nationally renowned artists while building community and work experience by participating in the daily functioning of the craft school.

The program structure balances time spent in class with time spent in operational roles. As such, participants in the workstudy program are integral to Arrowmont’s functions and are considered student employees. Therefore, it is important for those applying to be able to commit to the entire session(s) listed below.
