Arrowmont Craft Conversations: Lauren Kussro

“I’m an explorer. Navigating terrain and documenting botanical and geological matter, I’m looking for clues, details that get missed or forgotten. I hold them up to see what they point to and what they convey.”

Lauren Kussro brought her signature cup-paper techniques to Arrowmont during the 2021 National Workshop season. She centers her artwork in the space between play and discovery, and shares that with her students. Learn more about her work and her approach to teaching in this Arrowmont Craft Conversation.

Lauren Kussro lives in Houston, Texas and is an assistant professor of Art and Design at the University of Houston Clear Lake. She earned her BFA in painting and printmaking from the Herron School of Art & Design in Indianapolis, Indiana, and her MFA in printmaking at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. laurenkussro.com
