Arrowmont Update from the Deputy Director

Over the past several weeks, we have watched with growing concern the spread of the coronavirus and kept up-to-date on the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, and State and Local Health authorities. Because our chief concern is the health and safety of the entire Arrowmont community, we instituted their recommendations regarding sanitization, social distancing, and avoiding large meetings.

In light of the new changes and recommendations from the CDC and the federal government, Arrowmont has elected to take stronger action. We are closing our galleries, artist supply store, canceling all activities through the month of April, and closing the campus to visitors.

In addition, beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, all staff with a few exceptions will be working remotely or on furlough through Monday, April 6, 2020. We make this difficult decision with the utmost concern for our community.

We have made arrangements for essential functions to continue. Should you need to contact a member of the Arrowmont staff, you may do so via telephone or email to the office, or direct staff contact information is on the website at https://www.arrowmont.org/about/staff/. We may not be on campus but be assured we are still available to serve you.

Although the artist supply store is closed to in-person traffic, you may still order online at https://www.arrowmont.org/store/. The artist supply store also has the sales gallery that showcases and sells work of many craft artists. The artists depend on these sales to augment their income so we encourage you to take advantage of the online store.

We will continue to update you, on the website, Facebook, and other electronic media. We ask your support and patience as we deal with this evolving situation. Please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing.

Thank you for your support and please be safe.
