Summer National Workshop Instructors

June 5 - 27, 2026

For over 114 years, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts has been a place of learning, creativity, and artistic exchange nestled in the Smoky Mountains. What began as a settlement school focused on general education soon expanded to include mountain handicrafts, preserving regional traditions while creating opportunities for local makers and craftspeople.

In 1945, during a national revival of craft education, Arrowmont launched its signature summer workshop program, welcoming students from across the country to study art and craft on campus. Today, that legacy continues through more than 150 workshops each year, led by nationally and internationally recognized artists, makers, and university faculty. Across a wide range of media, concepts, and techniques, instructors come to Arrowmont to share knowledge, encourage experimentation, and foster creative community.

Each summer, the Arrowmont Gallery highlights a select group of workshop instructors, offering Knoxville audiences a glimpse into the talent teaching on campus. The artists featured in this exhibition showcase the diversity of contemporary practices across a variety of mediums:

Together, their work embodies Arrowmont’s mission to enrich lives through art and craft. This exhibition will be on view from June 5-27, 2026, opening on First Friday from 5-9 PM.
