Overview

Discover the fascinating world of encaustic collage and leave the glue behind. This workshop explores how encaustic medium, a mixture of heated beeswax and resin, can be used to create layered and dynamic collages with incredible depth. You'll learn how to combine decorative papers with encaustic medium, pigment sticks, and pan pastels to build up your own unique composition. This technique allows for a rich interplay of materials and textures, resulting in a finished piece with multiple, captivating layers. This workshop is open to ages 16+.

Artist Bio
Kelly Sullivan
Kelly Sullivan graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a BFA in Studio Art, with a concentration in printmaking. She currently resides in Knoxville, TN. Regardless of where she lives she finds a community where she can make art, learn new processes and teach what she is most passionate about. Kelly teaches in several locations in East Tennessee such as Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts and Relay Ridge. When she is not teaching, she is getting involved in arts organizations like the Mayor’s Maker City Council, Tennessee Crafts Commission Professional Development Committee and Printmakers Anonymous.
