Our Galleries
When we talk about immersing yourself in art at Arrowmont, that doesn’t stop outside the studio door. Our campus galleries and installations (including murals), combined with the downtown Knoxville Gallery means there’s no shortage of beautiful objects and works to explore.
Arrowmont’s growing collection of art, and reputation within the Craft School community, has helped to expand our art exhibition offerings well beyond the campus galleries so many students have come to know and love. Today Arrowmont boasts 4 galleries and over 30 art installations across our Gatlinburg campus. In addition, we opened our first off-campus exhibition space in downtown Knoxville in 2022 – the Arrowmont Gallery.
The galleries and grounds are open to the public all year long and host works from our instructor artists, artists-in-residence, pieces from our permanent collection, national and international artists and craftspeople. Please view our exhibition schedule, join us for one of our opening receptions, or stop by during the week for some quiet reflection in the galleries.
Arrowmont’s first permanent off-campus exhibition space is located downtown Knoxville in the heart of the Gay St. arts district. The Arrowmont Gallery offers rotating exhibitions that complement workshops, conferences and programs, featuring instructors, staff, Artists-in-Residence, and other members of Arrowmont’s creative community.
In addition to dedicated gallery space, the Arrowmont Gallery is also home to the Artist Marketplace, featuring over 60 Arrowmont connected Artists & Craftsmen. From giftable jewelry and pottery to collection-worthy works for your walls, don’t miss out on this opportunity to bring an original piece home.
Join us for First Friday each month to celebrate exhibition openings, shop the marketplace and get to know Arrowmont.

Our largest gallery space, spanning multiple open-concept rooms, the Sandra J. Blain Galleries are located on the second floor of the Turner Building. Offering a year-round schedule of changing national and regional exhibitions, each show complements and supports our workshops, conferences and programming.
Serving as an educational resource, the exhibitions enable students and visitors to learn about various media, techniques and ways artists express ideas through their work. Many works are for sale with proceeds supporting individual artists and the mission of the school.
Located in the Turner Building welcome center, this foyer gallery is focused on exhibiting solo and small group exhibitions by emerging and established contemporary craft artists. The space provides the Arrowmont resident artists with four months of exhibition time during their residency, in the form of an introductory exhibit and a mid-residency exhibit. This gallery also features a solo exhibition for the annual winner of the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage Artist of the Year competition, which takes place in April in conjunction with the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage at Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Located in the John Jordan Wood Center foyer, this airy and bright gallery displays revolving works selected from the permanent collection, and other small group exhibitions ranging in a variety of mediums and materials – from functional forms to conceptual objects and everything in between.
Arrowmont’s history in Gatlinburg dates back over a century with the founding of the Pi Beta Phi Settlement School. This gallery offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about the history of the school and peruse items from our permanent collection, including original photographs, furniture, baskets and textiles, and other ephemera dating back to the early 1900s.
In addition to the physical History Gallery, you can view a digital archive through the University of Tennessee online. Explore the archive.
