Bold Brooches! Alternative Powder Coating Techniques

May 25 - 30, 2025
Intermediate
Metals, Jewelry

Overview

Join this workshop for an immersive week in powder coating and creating custom brooches (or pendants)! This workshop will cover how to apply color, unique textures, and detailed illustrations to metal surfaces and you'll learn how to fabricate and design your own brooch back. A variety of techniques will be demonstrated, including “wet packing” powder coats with “Liquid 2 Powder,” drawing directly with powder, and creating layered effects using Prismacolor markers, graphite, paint markers, and micron pens. Students will also learn how to achieve painterly effects with powder. Students will learn skills in designing and crafting secure and stylish brooch backs from scratch.

Whether you're a jeweler looking to add new personal touches to your creations or a craft enthusiast eager to expand your skills, this workshop will equip you with the knowledge of powder coating and confidence to produce professional-quality brooch mechanisms.
