From Ink to Animation: Blurring the Boundaries of Print and Motion

October 18 - 23, 2026
Open to All Skill Levels
2D, Special Topics, Printmaking

Overview

Explore the exciting intersection of traditional printmaking and contemporary animation in this hands-on workshop. Students will experiment with a variety of analog processes, including screen printing, monotype, and collage, to create bold, tactile images. Through a combination of demonstrations and independent projects, students will then learn how to transform their printed imagery into frame-by-frame animation using accessible digital tools. This workshop is open to all skill levels, but some prior printmaking experience will be beneficial. By the end of the workshop, students will have a portfolio of unique prints and short experimental animations that blur the boundaries between an analog and digital practices.
