Artist Bio
Art Werger
Art Werger is a Professor Emeritus of the Printmaking program at Ohio University (OU), where he served as both Foundations Chair and Chair of Printmaking. He previously taught at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, for eighteen years, where he was Division Chair of the Fine Arts. Werger received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1978 and his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1982. Best known for his aerial images of cities and suburbs and his narrative mezzotints, his work in etching and mezzotint has been internationally exhibited for over thirty years and has received over two hundred awards. His numerous accolades include the International Printmaking Prize at the Guanlan International Printmaking Biennial in China and the Grand Prize at the International Mezzotint Festival in Russia, both received in 2015. Werger's work is held in major public collections, including the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Ekaterinburg Museum in Russia, and The Guanlan International Printmaking Museum in China.

Explore the 2D Arts Studio
Located in the historic West Building, the 2D Studio is a bright, multi-use room for all 2D related workshops at Arrowmont. Ideal for our printmaking, bookmaking, and painting or drawing classes, there’s plenty of room for groups of up to 20. A small outdoor courtyard offers a shaded place of respite or an extended outdoor instruction space.
