Overview

Discover the meditative and time-honored art of sweetgrass basket weaving in this hands-on workshop. Students will learn this traditional coiling technique passed down through generations to create their own pieces of art. Students will work with a variety of natural materials from South Carolina's Lowcountry, including pine needles, sweetgrass, bulrush, and palmetto palm. This workshop is an opportunity to connect with a living art form and carry on the tradition of creating functional and beautiful pieces.
