Artist Bio
Josh Hargrave
Josh Hargrave is a North Texas based artist whose practice explores the language of architecture through glass. Originally trained as a general contractor, he later returned to the medium he first discovered in 2008 at the University of Texas Arlington (UTA), where he is currently pursuing post-baccalaureate studies in glass. His work was recently featured in a 2025 solo exhibition Amorphous Structure at Giant Runt Gallery. Hargrave participated in Arrowmont’s Pentaculum retreat in 2025, an experience that deepened his connection to the school and expanded his experimental approach to kiln-formed glass. He was also honored with the Juror’s Choice Award at the Pilchuck Glass School Auction for a cast glass work. Drawing from construction, digital modeling, and experimental kiln processes, Hargrave teaches a hands-on, problem-solving approach that encourages students to push glass beyond functional boundaries.
Explore the Sculpture Studio
Located on the second floor of the Turner Building, the Sculptural Studio is steps from our Library & Resource Center and next to the Sandra J. Blain Galleries. The flexible nature of this studio makes it ideal for multimedia and sculpture classes where different types of media are being used. Adjacent to the Metals Studio our enamel classes and cold work, glass techniques are often taught in this space, allowing for a free flow of tools and equipment between the two workshops.
