Reinventing the Wheel

July 27 - August 1, 2025
Open to All Skill Levels
Clay

Overview

Expand your thinking about what is possible on the potter’s wheel! This workshop will challenge you to reconsider what the wheel can do, and push past the basics. If you are feeling stuck making round, symmetrical, cylindrical pots, this workshop will challenge you with new questions and strategies on the wheel. Demonstrations and exercises will inspire exploration and innovation to get your throwing skills to the next level, or to build a good foundation as a beginner. This workshop will cover throwing and altering, building with thrown slabs, building with thrown coils and generating thrown elements that assemble into pottery forms. With a focus on radical experimentation and a no-rules attitude, all you need is the courage to challenge tradition and reinvent the wheel! All skill levels are welcome.
