Working in Series - Pieces that Belong Together

In this workshop, students will explore ways to create pieces that belong together. When we work in a series, we are better able to step back and observe the small differences between individual pieces. The most basic skill necessary for creating a series is designing a process that can be repeated. That includes learning how to make and use your own measurement tools, customizing your clay blend with homemade grog or other inclusions, throwing to specific dimensions, creating bisque slump and drop molds, and trimming to size. Students are encouraged to create their artworks using their imagination and apply the demonstrations only as tools of their artistic vision.

Students can expect to leave the workshop with: their own bisque mold, custom made measurement tool(s), and other elements for creating repeatable designs.
