Artist Bio
Hayne Bayless
Hayne Bayless is a studio potter in Ivoryton, Connecticut. Despite earning a degree in journalism, he quit his newspaper job in 1992 to pursue ceramics, finding greater creative freedom in hand-building after abandoning the potter's wheel early on. His work has been shown at the former American Craft Museum in New York and he is represented by galleries in Los Angeles, Denver, and New Haven. He has exhibited at major national events, including the Smithsonian Craft Show, the Philadelphia Museum Craft Show, the Minnesota Potters Tour, and the Hilltown6 Pottery Tour. A dedicated educator, he has led workshops in more than twenty U.S. states, as well as Canada and Israel. His work has been published in several notable books and journals, including Creative Pottery by Deb Schwartzkopf, Objects for Use by Paul Smith, Design Language by Tim McCreight, and the Studio Potter journal.
