Think Outside the Turned Box with Carving, Texture and Color

This intermediate-level workshop will bring experienced turners to the next level in their practice through a week of immersion, instruction, and discussion focused on wood turned box design and surface texturing techniques. Although box turning techniques will be covered on day one, the focus of the workshop is helping students expand their knowledge of form and design. Key areas of study include surface texturing using power carving and pyrography (woodburning), advanced coloring techniques with brush and airbrush, and finial design and turning. Multiple daily group demonstrations will be provided, and students will receive individual instruction to encourage them to explore areas of interest and confidently push the boundaries of their turned work.
