Artist Bio
Jim Scarsella
Jim Scarsella is a turner, furniture maker, and artist with over four decades of experience making functional art from wood and metal. Working from his home studio in Williamsburg, Michigan, much of his current practice is focused on the box form. With a love of Folk Art and color, his work combines that whimsy and color into boxes of all shapes and sizes, often constructed with both wood and metal. His long-running series of decorative turned boxes are first made on a lathe, then hand carved and painted, creating the perfect place for housing special treasures.

Explore the Wood Studio
With a dedicated building to all things wood, the John Jordan Wood Building, it should come as no surprise that our wood workshops have developed a bit of a reputation for being the best of the best. A dedicated woodturning studio, machine room, and woodworking studio offer a wide range of equipment and options for students and instructors alike. From woodturning to furniture making, greenwood appliques to carving, the sky is the limit for what our wood workshops can do.
