Overview

This workshop invites students to explore the vast possibilities of experimental broommaking. Designed to shake out the cobwebs for makers at any stage, this class is ideal for those interested in expanding their current practice or for experienced broom makers creatively stuck in a rut. Students will utilize various design tactics, approaches to creative thinking, and multiple materials to produce unusual results, all while celebrating and engaging with traditional broommaking techniques. This is an advanced exploration intended to challenge makers to get outside of their comfort zones. Prior broommaking experience and good hand dexterity are required for this workshop.

Artist Bio

Hunter L.V. Elliot

Hunter L.V. Elliott is an artist and educator living in Berea, Kentucky. He received an interdisciplinary BFA in Sculpture and Printmaking from Kent State University in 2014 and has since produced multiple bodies of work in various disciplines and media. He currently serves as the Director of Fellowships at Berea College Student Craft, where he also teaches broommaking and other craft techniques.
